I definitely would.
I still think its the best job in the world.
What I might consider doing is a 3 yr normal science degree first though then a post graduate Medical Course which is 4 yr long. I was still quite immature first couple of years of med school. so doing a pre-med degree could help get through that.
Definitely. I didn’t apply for my nursing course until I was 21 so it took me some time to figure out what I wanted to do. I never considered being a nurse as a teenager. I don’t think there’s any shame in not knowing what you want to do and waiting until you fully know. When I was at school, there was a lot of pressure to go to university and get a degree, now out of my group of school friends, only 2 of us actually use our degree (me as a nurse, and my friend as an Occupational Therapist). There’s no harm in waiting until you know what you want to do.
Yes – it’s a very rewarding and varied career and I’m glad I chose to be a doctor. One thing people don’t realise is the sheer variety of jobs you can do with a medical degree. Apart from practising as a doctor, you can teach medical students and junior doctors, work in medical research, study law and work as a medical legal expert, work in public health, work/volunteer as doctor overseas or travel the world as a cruise ship doctor!
Having worked closely with the medical profession for 9 years now, I think their jobs are extremely difficult but very satisfying so I would certainly consider it as an option.
