      Hi, Emma here 🙂

I work in an adult ward so with those who are over 18. We see students and young people quite often, as lots of mental health issues start to develop when people are in their twenties.

I think teenagers these days have lots of added pressures that we didn’t have only 10 years ago. However, people are getting more aware of mental health and awareness of symptoms etc so that’s good too.

There is actually a specific service for teenagers and young people – CAMHS (child and adolescent mental health services). Have a look here for more info on CAMHS 🙂 https://www.nhs.uk/using-the-nhs/nhs-services/mental-health-services/child-and-adolescent-mental-health-services-camhs/

About one in ten young people will experience a mental illness before they are sixteen. The most important thing is to be able to talk about it either with a teacher, parent or GP in the first instance. It’s particularly important if you are experiencing bullying. If you’re worried, get help. If you’re worried about a friend, get help.
