      Hi, Emma here 🙂

For me it can be really hard when patients are having a really hard time. We see people who may have lost jobs, relationships, friends, homes, their children – all sorts. It can be tricky when they are at rock bottom but we try and help them start to rebuild and get well enough on the ward that they can start thinking about what to do when they are discharged. We also try and help them recognise what being unwell looks like for them so they can hopefully get help earlier in the future if they were to relapse. Sometimes it can be sad, even though it is very rewarding.

Sometimes it is heartbreaking to hear some stories of people who have had difficult pasts, but you get training in that and ultimately it is rewarding when you can help them.
