difficult question! I don’t see it that way as it’s always about the meaning to them in therapy, not how good the art is. I don’t teach techniques. we don’t put the art on display – its private.
but I do feel pleased when someone manages to feel happy with their work, and feel it expresses something important for them or helps them communicate or understand.
some work is very expressive letting out feelings
some lets us imagine a scenario and think how someone else might have been feeling
often people think they cant do art and gain in confidence doing it which is nice
one woman who was disabled chose pictures from magazines and I had to tear them out for her as she couldn’t manage , she really liked the sessions as it expressed who she was
