  When I moved to Beijing I was overwhelmed by the size of the city, how busy it is and that nobody speaks english. I lived there for 4 years and grew to love it, it helps that I learned to speak and read mandarin. I like the extremes of weather – really hot and humid in summer and really cold and dry in winter. I love the food – gongbao jiding and beijing kauya. I didn’t like how polluted and crowded it was. It’s scary to think that I lived there 20 years ago!
