Education:
Rebecca (Practice Nurse):I went on to Univeristy following my A Levels.
Jodie (Practice Manager): I went on to work after my A Levels.

Qualifications:
Rebecca (Practice Nurse): Degree in psychology, post graduate in nursing. A levels in English Art and Psychology.
Gaspar (General Practitioner): University post graduate in medicine, MBBS bachelor of medicine, member of the Royal College of general practitioners, post degree diploma in medical education.
Kayde (Medical Receptionist): I have 13 GCSEs, 4 A Levels in; Psychology, Health & Social Care, Food and Nutrition and Chemistry.
Jodie (Practice Manager): I have GCSEs, A Levels in; Math, Law and Psychology.

Work History:
Rebecca (Practice Nurse): I have worked as a Nurse in Prison, Young Offender’s Institute, worked in drug treatments, as a school nurse for children with Learning disabilities and then came to work as a Practice Nurse at Riverside Surgery.
Charlotte (Administrator): I started at the surgery as an Apprentice Administrator following completion of my A Levels.
Kayde (Medical Receptionist): Before working here I worked in Starbucks and B&M bargains.
Jodie (Practice Manager): Before Riverside Surgery I worked at another GP Practice. I started as an apprentice on Reception and worked as a Receptionist, Administrator, Secretary, Assistant Practice Manager and then Practice Manager.

Workplace:
All of our staff work within the Practice, within different departments. Most clinical staff work within a consultation room when holding their clinics, however our Health Care Assistant team works within a communal space called the treatment room in which they can hold several clinics.

What we do:
Jodie (Practice Manager): As a Practice Manager, my job involves managing HR issues and developing the practice as a business.

Our Typical Days:
Mia, Jade, Kayde (Medical Receptionists): As a Medical Receptionist our main priority is the answering of the phones and helping patients at the front desk. On an average day we will receive 200-300 calls and in addition to this the practice sees on average 500-600 patients via appointments.
Other jobs that a Medical Receptionist will do on a typical day would be to scan documents to a patient’s record, register new patients and sort incoming practice post.
Charlotte (Administrator): On a typical day I would aid in the organisation of meetings, take minutes for the meetings, discuss with external companies via email or phone and deal with the administrative side of aspects such as complaints and child and adult safeguarding.

What's your favourite food?
Kayde (Medical Receptionist): Cheeseburgers
Jodie (Practice Manager): Roast beef Sunday dinner with Yorkshire puddings.
Gaspar (General Practitioner): Yam & Eggs
What did you want to be after you left school?
Kayde (Medical Receptionist): A brain surgeon (I watched too much Grey’s Anatomy!)
Rebecca (Practice Nurse): A chef or an archaeologist.
Gaspar (General Practitioner): I always wanted to be a doctor, not necessarily a GP. At first I was thinking about specialising in orthopaedics.
Were you ever in trouble at school?
Gaspar (General Practitioner): No.
Kayde (Medical Receptionist), Rebecca (Practice Nurse): No never!
Mia (Medical Receptionist): I had 2 detentions at school, as I was always forgetting my books!
Jodie (Practice Manager): Yes, as my skirt was either too long or too short!
What's the best thing you've done in your career?
Gaspar (General Practitioner): I treated a man who couldn’t have kids to successfully go on to have a family.
Rebecca (Practice Nurse): I worked as a Nurse in a prison.
Jodie (Practice Manager): Starting work at Riverside Surgery!
Charlotte (Administrator): I helped organise a health care/ wellbeing centred fete at the practice for our local area. I also got a thank you card and a bunch of flowers from a patient once for helping them.
What or who inspired you to do your job?
Gaspar (General Practitioner): I was inspired to pursue my career by an Ophthalmologist who I once worked with.
Kayde (Medical Receptionist): Florence Nightingale.
If you weren't in healthcare, what job would you do?
Gaspar (General Practitioner): An Engineer.
Mia (Medical Receptionist): I would work as a translator / interpreter.
Anna (Medical Secretary): I would be a journalist/writer.
