I wanted a job where I could help people. I didn’t want to be a doctor or a nurse, because I know my skills are more management shaped than practical. But I wanted a job where I knew I was making a difference, helping people care for others and where I could use all my skills for that rather than working for a private company.

I was unwell when I was a small kid (I had Leukaemia, a type of blood cancer).
I remember being very interested in impressed about everything that was going on around me and this is probably where it started!
I love science and have an enquiring mind and I really like working with people. Medicine really brings all those things together!

I wanted a job where I felt I could make a difference. So by helping them with improve their knowledge and skills it felt like I could be helping patients. I’m not clinical myself so I’d never get that chance.
