Jo – I’m 31 years old (but in my head in 21!) and live in Nottingham with my fiancé James (who works for the Gunn and Moore (if anyone is a cricket fan!)
I’m from Manchester originally but came to Nottingham for medical school (where I had the best time!) and have stayed in the area (apart from a year in Lincoln and a year living in Australia).
None of my family are medics, so not really sure how I got hooked on the idea of being a doctor, but from memory it’s something I’ve always wanted to do.
I love travelling and exploring new places…..and discovering new foods….either through cooking or eating out at exciting places. I also just love seeing my friends and am lucky enough to have a great group of friends from both university and school.
The year ahead looks fairly busy, as I will finish my GP training and will be looking for a full-time job and planning my wedding (eeeek!)
Lucy – I’m 28 years old and live in Nottingham with my husband, Matt who is a radiologist and our cat called Darcy!
I’m from Worcester originally but came to Nottingham to study medicine and have stayed here since!
My mum is a doctor and I was inspired to follow in her footsteps…my sister is now also a doctor so I am fairly surrounded my medics!

Jo – I currently work full time in general practice, but have some time out in the week to attend training and teaching (as I am still a GP trainee!) I am in my 3rd and final year of GP training.
I haven’t come straight into GP training. When I finished medical school, I did my foundation training (2 years working in the hospitals as a junior doctor) and then wasn’t sure what I wanted to do so decided to take a year out and applied for a job in Perth in Western Australia, which I got. I worked nearly a year in A&E there, before travelling around SE Asia and coming back to start Anaesthetics training. After 2 years, I realised this wasn’t the job for me and so applied for GP training.
Lucy – I am also working full time in General Practice as a GP registrar. I have always wanted to be a GP and came straight into GP training after completing my foundation training after medical school.

My Typical Day:
We start seeing patients at 9am, but often get there a little early to do some admin (and make a tea/coffee). Following morning surgery, we often sign lots of prescriptions then go on a home visit. In the afternoon, sometimes we have another clinic or we may have a teaching session..
