Question: i am interested in going in to a medical career in the future, but I don't know much information about certain career roles there are. If you could give me some advice on where to go or any information about any roles i would muchly appreciate it thank you.

Another good source is the NHS Careers website. Not only do they have good descriptions and information about the different roles and careers you can take as a doctor, but all the other healthcare professions as well. See https://www.healthcareers.nhs.uk

Before you look at the career roles think about what it is about you that wants to go into a medical career- are you interested in people, or technology, or thrills, or knowing more and more about things?
If you were interested in tests and images and gadgets but less about people and communication then perhaps radiology or pathology would suit. If it’s all about adrenaline and pressure and unpredictability then maybe Emergency Medicine or being a paramedic would be great.
If it’s making connections, between conditions and medications, between family members and communities, across teams of doctors, nurses and physios, between GP practices and alongside hospital teams, then GP is the place to be!
Once you know what you want, most University websites will have prospectuses of the relevant courses so you can look into it further, and each specialism within medicine will have a ‘Royal College’ with their own website to discuss what’s involved. (Royal College of GP, Royal College of Psychiatry, Royal College of Radiology etc)
Finally of course you have us to ask through I’m a medic, get me out of here!
Best of luck going into things in more depth Teegan- I’m sure you’ll find what you’re looking for…!

What’s everyone’s favourite scrubs character, does Elliot deserve J.D?
