VERY good question. Some people could think it could be, but it’s endlessly different- a chest pain could be 10 different causes and some routine stuff you think is something straightforward is actually the ‘testing the waters’ before confiding in the big stuff.
I knew one specialist who said GP was all coughs and colds.
Sadly I think patients didn’t like the experience with him and chose to say they had a cold rather than what they really came about- patients have a knack of sussing us out and seeing what we’re like before opening up. Our job is almost like an interview and if we don’t make a good impression we don’t get the job of earning their confidence!
