I think the performance side of it- doing an exam where you’re observed with a patient was the most fun (ish) way to be assessed- I’m much better at talking compared to writing or doing a multiple choice. I just treated them as if it were real and the examiner wasn’t there, taking an interest and doing things as I normally would.
One case where I had to get to the diagnosis as part of the case, I asked ‘So how are things with you?’ and the patient replied ‘Not so bad, my heart failure’s playing up and my chest pain from my angina stops me getting out and about…’
I just looked at the examiner and smiled. Got an A for that. 🙂
