About Me:
I live with my husband, our 2 sons – 4 years old and 1 years old and our Jack Russell, Bella. I live in Cleethorpes and work as an Occupational Therapist.
I enjoy spending time with my family; trips away, going on walks and being outdoors. I usually meet my friends for good food and going to the spa for relaxation.

My Work:
No 2 hours are the same in my role! Every person and encounter is different. I work as an Occupational Therapist for East Lindsey Primary Care Network. It is a fairly new and developing role. I support people to prevent falls and live well in their own homes and care homes.

As an Occupational Therapist, I assess people in their own home. Some live in care homes, most are in their own homes. We work with people to achieve their goals. I work with older people, usually who have fallen or are at risk of falling.
Sometimes life becomes more difficult for people as they age and have medical conditions. I talk to people to find out
- what is important to them
- what are their strengths
- what do they enjoy
- what is becoming more difficult
- what do they want to achieve?
The goal might be to have less falls, be able to walk along the seafront with family, stay independent and safe at home.
I provide advice, equipment or can signpost people to other services that may be able to help too. I work with the individual and their support network – carers, family, friends, neighbours. I work with my wonderful colleagues – GPs, Physios, Care Coordinator, Nurses, Pharmacists. I also get to work with people from other professions and agencies; Social Workers, Age UK.

My Typical Day:
My children wake me up around 7am. We get ready and have breakfast together. I start working at 8am. I check my diary and waiting list for who needs to be seen today. I make telephone calls to arrange home visits and review how people are doing since I last saw them. I type notes following every encounter or patient related activity. I make time for lunch. In the afternoon, I carry on seeing patients, talking with colleagues about patients and completing notes. Then back home to my lovely family.
