Derbyshire
Health Education Derbyshire Training Hub was formed in 2019 to meet the educational needs of the diverse Primary Care workforce. We provide much broader support for a multi-professional approach, including careers, apprenticeships, wellbeing, education, and training.

About us:
Practices in Derbyshire cover a huge area, from inner city Derby to the Peak District and beyond. We have hugely populated areas in larger towns and rural locations across vast countryside. We are a region like no other, with over 120 practices to provide for our communities.

Our area:
Primary Care and General Practices in Derbyshire form part of an Integrated Care System called Joined Up Care Derbyshire. In addition to our practices, Derbyshire has two hospital trusts, one in the North and one in the centre of Derby, and we also work in partnership with community, mental health trusts, East Midlands Ambulance Services, social care and voluntary organisations to make sure that all patients, living anywhere in Derbyshire, have access to high quality services and support. This means when referrals are made in and out of hospital, and patients are allowed to return home, everyone can make sure that this care follows them.
Everyone working in health and social care in Derbyshire has pride in what they do. We’re the Pride of the East Midlands after all! Derbyshire is a fantastic place to work and study, with good travel networks and so many opportunities within the area. We have access to multiple universities who can provide high quality medical and non-medical education. It is a community that everyone feels part of, and our practices are at the heart of this. Our general practice staff see babies grow into adults, share all the highs and lows, support families and most importantly care for our communities with empathy and understanding. We allow our staff to develop, seeing Health Care Assistants move into nursing and reception staff develop into managers, there’s a role for everyone in general practice.

Facts about our area:
As Derbyshire is so large, and in parts rural, it can often mean that patients need to travel further to receive treatment. New roles are being introduced to support this, and home visiting services being established to help patients who struggle to leave their homes. Primary Care and General Practice continues to grow, as we have patients living for longer with more complex conditions, so there will always be job and training opportunities in health and social care!
