I decided to work in healthcare because I like caring for people and helping others. Working within healthcare makes you more compassionate and you realise how lucky you are meeting so many different people, all with different health issues, so helping people always makes you feel better as a person and most people appreciate us.
I started out volunteering at university promoting sexual health & HIV to other students. That got me into working with people and for many years I worked in charities helping people support other people in their community. I only joined the NHS in Sept 2020 because I saw a job advertised that used some of my skills I’d learned elsewhere
I wanted a job where I was helping people. Healthcare administration matched my skills, paid well, and to be honest there was an element where I went for four or so graduate schemes and the NHS was the best paid and offered me an additional qualification at the time.
I worked in health and wellbeing and as a community care worker. I wanted to help people prevent illness and make them aware of how to be healthy as well as helping to provide a good service for those who needed it
