I am a service evaluation specialist. I look at whether services and training programmes are delivering what they promised they would. I do this by
– reading first hand evidence, like how many people attended, what marks out of 10 they gave their courses, and what they think they will do differently in the future
– reading other evidence, like research papers or government reports into what sort of things should work
– where I can, interviewing workers and patients about their experiences
– writing reports.
I also sometimes train people myself, for example on project management or good business communications.
My Job title is programme manager and I manage a team of people who deliver projects and learning to staff in GP practices. We work with them to make sure the staff have skills and knowledge they need to do their jobs and provide good patient care. Staff need to keep up to date with their skills throughout their careers
I provide mental health support within primary care for a PCN of four GP surgeries in the city centre. The aim is to provide individuals with skills, techniques, and coping strategies to understand and manage their MH conditions and to reduce escalation to secondary services.
